DAY 29 Weight Loss Journal

It looks like the Capture feature on YouTube may no longer be compatible with my computer! (Read: EncinoMom needs a new computer!) I will continue my video diary on my phone until I’m certain of the solution. In the meantime, I’m sticking with the program and looking forward to discovering whether the 5/2 menu is a good fit for me and my goals!

DAY 28 Weight Loss Journal

It’s Monday morning. How are you feeling? Tomorrow will be my first “2” day from Z.E.N. That means, no snack, no dessert and reduced calories. The intention is to kick your weight loss into high gear. I’m looking forward to a big finish just in time for all those Forth of July celebrations and trips to beach and the pool in my new (finally) swimsuit!

DAY 27 Weight Loss Journal

Busy week coming up, including folding a new intern into the mix for Summer! Room makeover on the schedule, but the paint has yet to arrive. Trying to relax and take one thing at a time.

DAY 26 Weight Loss Journal

Back in Los Angeles, things are speeding up. There are several big projects in the works and I am really grateful to have my food all figured out for me. It’s so important to take good care of yourself, especially when there are extra stressors and demands on your time.

My usual reaction to this kind of pressure would be to make do – grab something quick, without forethought and planning – or skip meals altogether, until extreme hunger forced me into a ravenous feeding frenzy. That’s a recipe for overeating right there folks. Not only would this lead to overeating, it would lead to overeating the wrong kinds of food for me; most likely cheese and crackers, chips and dip, buttered popcorn and or wine. While I enjoy these foods, they just don’t satisfy my nutritional needs and certainly don’t deserve to be dietary mainstays.

Thanks to Z.E.N. for keeping me well fed. I’m feeling capable and strong, able to meet all of my commitments. I like that. It’s good to have an ally. It’s encouraging and comforting.

DAY 25 Weight Loss Journal

Sorry, this video is super wobbly and pretty unflattering – at least it’s short! We went for a swim at one of the indoor pools before we hit the road for home. We stopped somewhere at a place called Elaine’s Diner. It was a drive-in style place that no longer offered drive-in service and boasted World Famous Hamburgers . . . and Chinese Food. Skeptical and hungry we went inside.

Encouraged by lack of available tables, I bravely ordered the number 2 (Vegetables and chicken served with noodles and soup). I ate the green beans. Based on my daughter’s recommendation, this is a great place to get a Root Beer Float.

Looking forward to seeing my own kitchen and unpacking the car!

DAY 24 Weight Loss Journal

What a great day! We moved from our campsite in Yosemite to the Tenaya Lodge, just outside the park. We arrived a little later than expected as traffic was completely stopped while travelers photographed the antics of a small bear and little baby bear playing in a tree, just a few feet from the road!

I climbed a rock wall with my daughter and was rewarded with a fantastic 90 minute massage at the luxurious Ascent Spa. Later my husband and I chatted with local fine art photographer Micheal Ambrose and had a fine dining experience at Embers with amazing service from the warm and friendly staff.

DAY 23 Weight Loss Journal

Yosemite is so beautiful! You probably know that. It was a challenge to keep my food separate from the family foods due to bear box issues and dirt. Dirt. It’s everywhere. I brought my feetie jammies because they are loose and warm and modest and they cover my feet. It was great thinking, except that those nasty jammie feet come into the tent, and worse — into the sleeping bag! Flip flops are still tops. And we discovered that they make fabulous paddles when you are up a creek without one. ;0

DAY 20 Weight Loss Journal

Cold poached egg and beans. That might not sound that good to you, but it was delicious! I ate breakfast in a bit of a hurry this morning, because I promised to take my daughter to see The Fault In Our Stars at the first showing! We got to the mall before the parking lot was even open. One benefit of going early; it was easier to resist the popcorn at the movie theatre!

Hope you are doing well and enjoying Summer vacation already. What kinds of travel plans do you have?

DAY 17 Weight Loss Journal

It’s the last day of school, yeah! Lots of work to do tomorrow while my daughter takes a celebration lap at Universal Studios for her friend’s birthday. On Monday, we’ll head up the state to Yosemite for a mini camping vacation with family friends.
