Wow! Lots of distractions this morning. Packing the cooler with Z.E.N. Foods, plus planning the week’s meals for my family, receiving the script to study for an up-coming public appearance and getting the house sitter up to speed. I’m really looking forward to this trip to Yosemite and the opportunity to unwind, unplug and stare at the sky, the trees, the stars. I’ve got to finish packing, so I’ll keep it short, and see YOU tomorrow!

Getting ready for a room makeover for EncinoMom.com. There are so many details to take care of and a lot of prep work to make this project successful. The design work is complete and many of the products and decor items have been purchased or acquired to complete the project. The room is getting a real over haul! We are moving from a very pastel palate of pink, butter yellow and soft Spring green to Black and White graphic paint with Turquoise and Red as accent colors. There is a ripple effect moving throughout the house as pieces which are no longer desired find new homes in other rooms.
Last night my husband and I stayed up into the Wee Smalls putting together this new and improved guest bed! It does extra duty as a day bed, for naps in the afternoon, and a couch for one of our offices. More pictures and details to come as this project unfolds and Lizzy K’s new room is revealed!

Okay. We all knew yesterday would be a challenge with the Media Dinner at the Hard Rock Hollywood on my calendar. Let me tell you there are tastings and then there are tastings. This was A TASTING! A full on, sit down, we’re feeding you our new food and beverage menu, private room, chefs, lots of forks and spoons at your place setting, pr and restaurant power people and an entire buffet of food just for photos! Not all tasting events are this comprehensive.
Watch the video and I’ll take you through the courses. You’ll see why it was such a challenge to a weight loss mind set. I’m sure everyone has these kinds of challenges with different particulars so I think it’s important to include here. The biggest take away if you are working on your Summer figure, too is my attitude of enjoying it and moving on. It’s so easy to have something like this turn into a reason to quit. You feel like you’ve blown it and instead of forgiving, forgetting and going back to what IS working, you find yourself making a landslide of exceptions. Your mindset has deteriorated and your spiraling out of control. When that happens, the best thing I can do for myself is take a nap, a bath, a walk or meditate and reset my intentions.
You know, I’m finding that while I started this journey hoping to help you, it is really helping me more than I could have anticipated. I’ve noticed whenever I make decisions based on what I think YOU will like, I make better decisions for myself.

It’s day 14. No matter what I say in the video! I’m looking forward to dinner tonight with friends at LYFE Kitchen in Tarzana. Not only do I know that I’ll be in good company and that the evening will be super enjoyable, full of stimulating conversation and laughter, but I’m not at all worried about sticking with my program. I’ve been to LYFE several times (Palo Alto, Culver City and Tarzana locations!) and I know I will have a wonderful meal. One of my favorites there is a menu staple for them; Brussel Sprouts and Butternut Squash with Cranberries with a full flavored sauce! I’m planning to have a glass of wine tonight, too.
Trusting your body is so important! I’m noticing I’m a lot happier when I get some exercise into my day, even a modest amount. It really helps with my mood, my attitude and my overall outlook. Working at the computer and on the phones can really keep my thinking inside the box. When I go for a walk, stroll around the back yard or take a yoga or qigong class, I really feel the difference. I’m always looking for windows of time to get myself to the beach, too. Looking at the ocean, feeling the salt air, the sea breezes, the sand underfoot, these things fuel my imagination, clear my mind and make room for inspiration.

There’s a lot going on right now as we close in on the end of the school year, the transition to Summer and an increased travel and personal appearance schedule. It is exhilarating and challenging if I try to think about all of the details that I am ultimately responsible for! I love to focus deeply on whatever I am doing at the moment. When you watch these videos or read these words, I hope you can feel my intention to bring forth a little calm, a little clarity and some enthusiasm for this journey.

Thought you might like to see a sample menu, so here’s what I have for today: Breakfast of Zucchini Bread with Greek Yogurt and Fresh Fruit (Cantaloupe and Blackberries), Lunch will be a Chicken Strawberry Patch Salad, for Dinner there’s Turkey Marsala with Cauliflower and Asparagus with a Gluten Fee Chocolate Mint Cupcake for Dessert. There is also a Snack of Fresh Honeydew and Raspberries with Raw Cashews. I usually have the snack in the late afternoon. I took a nice long walk in the neighborhood with my family, yesterday and am deciding whether to go to a yoga class in the park or for a nice long walk at the beach, today. Which would you choose?

Attitude is so important! I suppose I could chose to be discouraged this morning. My weight has stayed the same for the last three days. I don’t feel discouraged though, I feel good. I know I’m doing all of the things that assure my success, walking, breathing, enjoying the Z.E.N. Foods and imagining my delight at release pounds that no longer serve me (after all, I’m not eating for two any more – but wasn’t that fun!) With my energy and attitude in a good feeling place and Z.E.N. taking care of the obsession over calories and quality and quantity, there is nothing to do, but enjoy the process and trust that my results will be exactly what I expect them to be!
