Check out my Crowdrise fundraising page. I’m raising money to help pay for a trip to New York City with other dancers from my high school here in New Mexico. I’ve never been to New York, but am so excited for the opportunity to take professional dance classes and find out if I have what it takes to follow my dreams.
Not only have I already raised 8% of my goal (in less than 24 hours), but I wanted to share this in case you have cause of your own that needs funding! My mom set this up for me, mostly because I’ve been babysitting and doing other things to raise money for my trip, like caroling at the mall and washing cars with the other dancers!
Anyway, Crowdrise is easy to use and we picked it because it has the fewest restrictions and fees. Since today is #GivingTuesday, I thought it would be a good time to share this with you. Take a look at my campaign if you need some inspiration.
Huge thank you to Crowdrise and everyone who has shared, liked, and or contributed to my cause – it all helps. I’m getting teary thinking about the outpouring of support. #FeelingLoved

“Heart-warming and hilarious.” – Pete Hammond, Deadline.com
The HOME PARTY EDITION is Packed with over and Hour of Hit Music and Fun Dancing Content that will Get the Whole Family Shaking Their Boov Thing!
LOS ANGELES, CA – Celebrate family, friendship and fun in the surprise smash comedy hit of the year from the creators of How To Train Your Dragon and Shrek! In DreamWorks Animation’s HOME, Oh, a loveable misfit from another planet meets a girl named Tip. The two unlikely friends embark on the greatest journey of all time…the journey HOME.
Recently, I saw a movie called Home. This animated film is about friendship, family, trust, and teaching us to never judge a book by it’s cover. Seeing Home on a big screen is recommended. It is very visually stimulating so you will never be bored. I watched this movie with an 8 year old who could NOT take his eyes off the screen. Home is a star-studded film starring the vocal talents of Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Jim Parsons, Steve Martin, and many more. Of course, being a teenager, I had a blast singing along to all of Rihanna’s songs during the movie.
Anyway, in the beginning of the movie, we are introduced to Oh, an alien who is constantly trying to make friends and help his species but he is mostly misunderstood. When Tip (played by Rihanna) and Oh (played by Jim Parsons) stumble into each other’s paths, Tip is frightened and thinks Oh is a monster. She is hesitant to trust and let down her guard to him because she believes he is bad news. As the movie progresses, she realizes he is not a monster and that she can trust him. Throughout the movie, they are in search of Tip’s mother. Their friendship is put to the test and they show courage and bravery. I highly recommend this movie to families with kids of all ages.
My mom and I had the chance to visit a wonderful Thai restaurant in Culver City named Natalee Thai. This restaurant is casual but visually beautiful and modern. The food is affordable but the price doesn’t compare to the quality and love presented. I felt totally comfortable in leggings and flip flops while being served incredible food. I ordered the Won Ton Soup and the mussels appetizer and was full in the best way possible. Although, I ALWAYS have room for dessert. The soup is delicious and was probably the best Won Ton soup I have EVER had. Before I start talking about the mussels, I would like to say that I have never had mussels before. After trying these, mussels are my favorite food! And, yes, I ate every single mussel in that dish. To top of one of the most flavorful meals of my life, I ordered Espresso ice cream and yes it is as good as it sounds.
If you ever want to have an amazing meal, stop by Natalee Thai. 🙂
My friend Katie and I decided to experiment with the Sushi edition Popin’ Cookin’. Like most of the Popin’ collection, the sushi package is sweet and candy flavored rather than savory and realistic. It was a BLAST making all the different parts of the sushi and then putting them all together. The kit comes with a mini mixing spoon, the mixing “bowls”, “seaweed”, and powders to make rice, fish, and fish eggs. My favorite part of creating candy sushi was making the tiny fish eggs. You mix two powders with water separately and then with an eye dropper, you drop small portions of one liquid into the other causing it to instantly solidify in balls. Then you can scoop the eggs out of the solution and place them as a final touch on top of the rice and seaweed.
Here are some tips:
1. Look up the directions online. Since the whole package is in Japanese, it would make the process much easier to look up the English translation. Popin’ Cookin’ Sushi Instructions
2. Take your time. Buy a couple boxes and share them with your friends. Making this fun mini foods isn’t about the taste, it’s about the experience. Take your time and have fun watching each other’s reactions as you take your first bites.
3. HAVE FUN!! ☺️
Dear Readers, before I get into this post I would just like to say that on June 4th, 2015, I’m graduating from 8th grade. :))))))))) Okay, back to it. (Turning your computer, phone, or head may be required to view the following images.)
The first picture is actually courtesy of one of my closest friends since first grade and yes it is a photo of me in first grade. Obviously I had just lost some teeth and didn’t own a hair brush. I have to say I’m really not proud of either photos. The first is just plain out embarrassing and in the second I’m doing the duck face. You can tell my dog is also in dissaproval. Anyway, I think my favorite things to do always involve my little dude, Toby. I can’t begin to explain how thankful I am that he came into my life.
Recently, I have been having tedious knee pains when doing anything that requires putting weight on them. At the start of my knee pain, it was manageable. As it continued, it became more and more painful.
One day, my mom approached me with the concept of Vionics. Vionics are a brand of footwear that are shaped in a way to lift parts of your foot to promote healthy walking. The inside of the sandals support my feet and help me walk properly.
At this point of pain, I was willing to try anything to help relieve my knee pains. The first time I put them on I was immediately surprised at how they felt different than other shoes, but not in a bad way at all. They felt super comfprtable. They’re cute enough to wear all Summer, too.
Within two minutes of wearing my new sandals, I could already feel less pressure on my knees. I cannot begin to describe how impressed I am with the comfort my feet feel on a day to day basis thanks to Vionics. Ever since I have been blessed with my very own pair, they have been my go to shoe. My knee pain is now, merely a memory!
Here’s an Amazon affiliate link to the sandals I received (except of course, mine are white). They are called the Tide II Thong sandals. They cost about $65. Since these worked so well for me, my Mom actually ordered a pair for herself, too! She bought the Florianas in Snake. I think they cost $80. They look kind of green in person and are cute for her. Here’s a picture of those from Amazon, too.
Let me start off my story by confessing. When I think of New Mexico, I think of a dry and abandoned state. I think of one consistent season, summer.
Over spring break, my family and I piled into a car and went road trippin’. When I say my family I’m referring to my mom, dad, dog, suitcases, and headphones. On our way to our destination I got to stop by my favorite Route 66 landmark, The Jackrabbit. The Jackrabbit is a small spot in Joseph City, Arizona. Don’t get me wrong, just because it’s small doesn’t mean that it isn’t delightful. The Jackrabbit is defined by a billboard saying, “Here It Is.” It is a quaint and cozy store next to a photo opportunity, aka the jackrabbit. I’ve been taking pictures on it since I could walk. As I grow, it seems to shrink in size but never in memory.
Anyway, once we were back on the road I was able to enjoy the comfort of staring out the window and blasting music into my brain with the help of earphones. I have to say when I was younger I was a tad restless, but now I find it extremely soothing. I love to be on the open road. As we started to approach New Mexico, I noted the temperature slowly dropping. It wasn’t a significant change, but it was enough to catch my eye. When we entered Albuquerque I noticed that it was well populated and wasn’t the slightest bit abandoned. In all honesty, a few miles into Albuquerque I fell asleep.
When I woke up, we were on the outskirts of Santa Fe. I immediately recognized a drive-thru Panera. Now, this may not be a big deal to most people, but I love to know that there is something familiar in a brand new unknown. Anyway, when we arrived to the Double Tree Hotel I was in awe of it’s elegance and simplicity. Although this vibe was pretty much spread through all of Santa Fe. Santa Fe was so laid back and relaxed. There didn’t seem to be one person rushing or frustrated and in a hurry.
As we walked through the town square, it seemed like a place created for a TV show. It was so charming and unique. Even though that can be said for many locations, Santa Fe is a breath of fresh air, literally! Fun fact: Sante Fe is among the top ten cities with the best air!
There are so many things to do in Sante Fe. My mom and I got to have a private skateboarding lesson in Skate School. We walked into a room filled with vintage photos of skateboarders. I looked at my mom and without speaking I threw her a puzzled look. I had no clue where we would actually skate. As my thought bubble popped, we were guided through a door in a corner of the room and found ourselves in this huge indoor skate park. When I say skate park, I mean skate ramps, couches, and well placed graffiti. It could also be named as the ultimate hang out. Anyway, I was shocked that I went from a normal room to a huge indoor space with high ceilings. The lesson was a blast and I can truthfully say that I walked away having learned a couple techniques.
I feel blessed to have been able to be exposed to this wonderful destination with beautiful architecture. Let me end my story by saying that I was completely wrong about Sante Fe. I’m impressed and taken aback by it’s beauty.
On Wednesday, my mom and I threw on our fashion sense and went to a party on the sunset strip. (Turning your computer, phone, or head may be required to view the following images.)
Fabfitfun is a company that produces subscription boxes. These boxes full of makeup, accessories, and more come out four times a year (representing each season). They threw a rooftop party on the sunset strip to promote their upcoming box. Of course, since I’m under 21 I entered with a big “X” on my wrist to avoid alcohol. However, the “X” did not stop me from having a great night out with my mom. Anyway, I got to meet the fabulous Chloe Bridges. She has been in Pretty Little Liars and Carrie Diaries. She is even more beautiful in person. Anyway, I had a blast and my favorite part was coming home and opening my goody bag!!!
