This morning I talk about satisfaction. It is so important to feel satisfied. Of course, part of being human includes hunger and desire. But hunger and desire are not necessarily satisfied with food. I think we have deeper hungers and desires that drive us and sometimes we use food as a sort of placeholder or stopper to temporarily assuage those deeper yearnings. I think we all want to be loved and have a feeling of belonging for example. I know I take great pleasure in finding beauty all around me whether it’s a sunset, a work of art, a smile, the eyes of a child or a flower. I find all of these things to be nourishing. So today, I wish for you, deep nourishment, beauty, satisfaction and community.

If you asked me what I thought the most romantic place in the world was, I would say France. I have an obsession with my idea of what France would be like. I think music consumes Paris, with melodies pouring off of all the streets. I imagine everywhere you walk, it would smell like bread baking in an oven. The people would sip and not slurp and sit politely in cafés and parks. There wouldn’t be one sad face. Everyone would help each other. The people on the streets would be begging for hope tokens instead of money. That is my idea of what France would be like. To top it all off, lovers would be everywhere. Every time a couple kissed in public, strangers would smile. Couples would be lined up along the Lover’s Bridge, (fences full of padlocks declaring couples’ fidelity towards one another) , locking their love onto a metal wall of faithfulness.
Most people, when writing bout the Lover’s Bridge, would tell the reader cold facts, but you can find those facts anywhere. If you are looking for facts like there are over 700,000 locks on the bridges of Paris, then please stop reading. I am not here to talk to you about stone cold facts, I am here to share the romantic qualities of the locks of love.
Something that I love about the locks on this bridge is the rawness of the locks. They aren’t carefully planned and thought out hallmark locks, they are locks with sharpie written on them, names and dates scratched into the surface of the locks with keys. I would imagine that if you just walked across the bridge you would feel the love that so many people felt passionately enough to lock onto a fence along with other people who probably felt the same passion too. When lovers add their love lock to the bridge, it waits there for their return. My hope is to someday lock my own love to the bridge and toss the keys into the Seine river like so many lovers who came before me and my future love.
I feel great and am looking forward to eating foods after the 3 day juice cleanse, but honestly feel I could do the 5 or 7 day cleanse pretty easily. The trick is taking care of yourself AND your family. If you’re making cheese quesadillas for them and cheese and salsa are your favorite foods, then any program where you are eating different foods from the rest of the family is going to be a challenge – for you & them. This week, our daughter has been away at sleep over camp for the first time ever. While I missed her like mad, I recognize how much it supported my juice cleanse. My husband is a saint when it comes to this sort of thing. He is slim already, but he takes advantage of the break in routine to forage in the kitchen and prepare his favorite foods for himself. How would taking extremely good care of yourself impact your family?
On completion of Day 3 of my Z.E.N. Foods spa cleanse, I took an at home spa experience soak with the Himalayan Detox Bath Salts provided with the program. I thought you might enjoy your own moment of relaxation with this video I made with my phone. I was so relaxed, I made up a new word. See if you spot it.

I’m really looking forward to this evening. Once the 3 day cleanse is complete, I have Himalayan Detox Bath Salts that Z.E.N. sent along with Organic Turmeric Ginger Green Tea bags to really give you that spa experience at home. Each day along with the juices, salad, soup and water that I consumed, I made several cups of tea using the day’s tea bag. I found that to be very soothing.

Feeling great, energetic and upbeat. I normally have a cup of coffee (often more than one) in the morning, but skipped that yesterday. Normally, that would be the recipe for a headache! My head is clear and I’m grateful to be taking care of myself in this way. My favorite food yesterday was the Cucumber Pineapple Gazpacho. There were a few times during the day when other people where eating cheesy bread things when I thought, “I’d like one of those.” But when I thought about it for a second I realized that wasn’t what I wanted at all. It was just habit knocking on the door. I did experience the desire for something crunchy, but was satisfied with the toothsome Kale salad – cold, crispy and light. I’m thinking this is something I’d like to do a few times each year! Webcam video from May 21, 2014 9:06 AM
It’s day one of my Spa Juice Cleanse. So far so good. The juices are delicious and interesting, like nothing I would come up with on my own. I missed having breakfast, just a little. I’m naturally not a big breakfast eater, I don’t wake up starving, but I am in the habit of having a meal within an hour or so of waking up. I also generally have coffee – at least one cup. I skipped it this morning. I’m planning on having tea this afternoon (using the tea bag provided). I’ve also had about 24 oz of water already. I feel light and optimistic. Join me on this journey to a leaner, healthier body! I am ready to let go of my baby fat (after 12 years). This daily video diary shares my experience with home food delivery partner Z.E.N. Foods. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to talk about this with you! I’m starting with a 3 day juice cleanse, followed by a 31 day food program. I hope you’ll cheer me on and hopefully I can inspire you, too!
Your support means the world to me. Here’s hoping to bring out the best in both of us!
