Three Sugar Skull Tutorials For Halloween

I just received the Halloween costume request from my 12 year old! We always enjoy creating something unique for her for Halloween. There have been a few packaged costumes making it into the mix over the years, since she usually wants to be one thing at school and something else for parties or Trick or Treating.

This year, the request for a Sugar Skull make up job is in order. So I thought I’d share these tutorials with you as I do my research. This should be a fun project and I expect Dad will lend a helping hand, too. I may know more about make up, but he is an artist . . . like really . . .an artist, so he can draw!

This first tutorial tells you where you can get the make up and stencils (in a kit at Michaels).

The second tutorial takes some time to watch, but takes the skull into the neck area and may be more suitable for teenagers and adults.

This third tutorial details the brushes she uses and has some really nice calligraphy style mark making that you may enjoy. I think this may be more than I can tackle, but it’s worth looking at for inspiration and this may be exactly right for you! Have fun, enjoy and send us your pictures!
